Julien Lagueste
Julien Lagueste grew up near the sea in la Trinité-sur-Mer, a French town on the Atlantic coast. He spent his summers on some of the paradisiacal islands of the coast. After graduating with a degree in Interior Design from Cread Institute Lyon he moved to Nantes and set up his atelier in 2016. His 8 years of study followed by his self-taught apprenticeship led him to create a collection of tables inspired by his childhood: Souvenirs des Îles.
A piece of furniture, a sculpture, and a painting all in one. Each creation is unique and made by hand. Simple yet poetic, carved woods take inspiration from the shapes of eroded stone. The tabletop reminds one of the transparency and depth of the seabed.
Julien’s special, time and labor intensive process of superimposing multiple layers of resin hand mixed with varied pigments, means each table is unique.
As the liquid resin hardens, all the countless hues of the ocean come to life.
Julien’s L’Île de Beaute table has been chosen by the prestigious Mobilier National France for its permanent collection.
